Early life
Bess Rous was born and raised in Short Hills, New Jersey. From a young age, she developed a strong interest in figure skating, beginning competitive ice dancing training well before her teenage years and committing to it for approximately 14 years.[7] At the age of 15, Rous made the significant decision to leave home and relocate to Newark, Delaware, to enroll in the University of Delaware's Ice Skating Science Development Center, a renowned facility for intensive training in the sport.[7] During her late teenage years, while continuing her ice dancing training, Rous began to shift her aspirations toward acting, marking a pivotal transition from athletic performance to the performing arts.[7] This change reflected her evolving interests in creative expression beyond the rink.[7]Education
Rous attended public high school in New Jersey while balancing her early training in ice dancing, which involved private tutoring for the remainder of her academic studies.[1] She pursued higher education in the performing arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts.[8][9] To further her training, Rous obtained a certificate from the London Academy of Theatre, enhancing her skills in dramatic arts.[8]Acting career
