Corey Thompson
Corey Thompson (born December 23, 1993) is a former American football linebacker.[1] He played college football at Louisiana State University, where he appeared in 32 games over five seasons (2013–2017), recording 66 tackles and three pass breakups.[2] After going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Thompson signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he played in 18 games over two seasons (2018–2019), totaling 21 tackles and one forced fumble.[1] He was waived by the Bills in September 2020. Later that year, he briefly joined the New York Jets' practice squad in November 2021. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (2014–2015)
Thompson made his NRL debut for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 1 of the 2014 season against the Brisbane Broncos.[5] He went on to play 25 games that year, including the Grand Final loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, scoring 12 tries across two seasons. In 2015, he featured in 10 matches before signing with the Widnes Vikings in the Super League.[6]Widnes Vikings (2016–2017)
Joining the Widnes Vikings on a two-year deal, Thompson excelled in the Super League, scoring 27 tries in 2016 to finish second in the try-scoring charts and helping the team to a seventh-place finish. Over two seasons, he made 48 appearances and scored 36 tries.[3]Wests Tigers (2018–2020)
Returning to Australia, Thompson signed with the Wests Tigers for the 2018 season. He started at fullback and scored a match-winning try in Round 1 against the Sydney Roosters.[7] An ankle injury ended his 2018 campaign after 20 games and 9 tries. In 2019, he played 22 games, scoring another 9 tries, including two in a win over the New Zealand Warriors.[8] He appeared in 2 games for the Tigers in 2020 before transferring mid-season. Thompson joined the Gold Coast Titans on 15 June 2020, playing 12 games that year. In 2021, he featured in 18 matches, including an elimination final, and represented the Indigenous All Stars.[9] His 2022 season included 13 appearances as the Titans finished 13th.
