EKA Arena
EKA Arena is a multi-purpose convertible stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, designed to host sports, entertainment, and corporate events with a seating capacity of 20,000 in its outdoor configuration and up to 4,000 indoors.[1][2]Formerly known as TransStadia Arena, it opened in October 2016 as India's first stadium utilizing StadiArena technology, which enables rapid conversion from an open-air football pitch to a covered indoor venue in approximately six minutes.[2]
Located adjacent to Kankaria Lake, the facility features a FIFA-approved natural Bermuda grass pitch elevated 4.8 meters above ground level, along with advanced amenities such as media broadcasting capabilities, air-conditioned green rooms, and spectator-friendly infrastructure including covered seating and easy access.[3][2]
Developed under a public-private partnership between TransStadia Pvt. Ltd. and the Government of Gujarat, EKA Arena spans a 32,000-square-foot indoor space and integrates with surrounding features like sports academies, banquet halls, dining outlets, retail areas, and rehabilitation centers to serve as a year-round hub for diverse activities.[4][2]
Notable events hosted at the venue include the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup, the 2017 ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Cup, the 2019 Intercontinental Football Cup, the Gujarat Iconic Film Awards in 2018, and concerts by performers such as A.R. Rahman, underscoring its role as a premier destination for international sports and cultural spectacles in western India.[2]
