Early life
George Jason Siggers was born on August 24, 1985, in Dallas, Texas.[3][8] He grew up in Dallas alongside his parents, George and Beverly Siggers, and his siblings: sisters Gretchen Siggers and LaNecia Bembrey, and brother Jarrid Monton.[3] Siggers was raised in a supportive family environment that encouraged participation in sports, with his father offering guidance and motivation during challenges in his early athletic pursuits.[11] His introduction to basketball occurred through local youth programs and school activities in the Dallas area, laying the groundwork for his development as a player.[11] This early foundation in basketball led Siggers to join the team at Skyline High School in Dallas.[3]High school career
Jason Siggers attended Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas, where he played basketball as a guard/forward, earning two varsity letters and serving as team captain.[3] During his senior season, he averaged 22.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, helping lead the team to a 26-4 record.[3] Siggers showcased his scoring ability and athleticism, drawing recognition for his dynamic play style.[3] His high school achievements included being named to the Class 5A All-District 11 team on two occasions and earning a nomination as a McDonald's All-American.[3] Skyline High School has a storied basketball tradition, with notable alumni including former NBA star Larry Johnson.[3] Following graduation, Siggers pursued his basketball career at the junior college level, enrolling at New Mexico Junior College.[3]College career
Siggers began his collegiate basketball career at New Mexico Junior College, playing two seasons from 2003 to 2005. There, he established himself as a prolific scorer, averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 45.8% from the field and 79.4% from the free-throw line.[3] His standout performance earned him team MVP honors, along with selection to the 2005 Western Junior College Athletic Conference First Team and the All-Region V Second Team.[3] Following his junior college success, Siggers transferred to the University at Albany (UAlbany), joining the Great Danes for the 2005–2007 seasons. In his junior year (2005–06), he transitioned to Division I competition, appearing in all 32 games and averaging 5.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, often providing bench scoring and contributing to UAlbany's America East Conference regular-season championship.[4] Siggers' role expanded significantly in his senior season (2006–07), where he started 32 of 33 games and averaged 13.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, ranking eighth in the America East in scoring during the regular season and third in free-throw percentage at .829; he shot .818 (81.8%) for the full season.[12][4] His leadership helped UAlbany secure both the regular-season and tournament titles, earning him America East First-Team honors and a selection to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 13.5 points in the championship run.[13][14] Across his two seasons at UAlbany, Siggers compiled 616 points, 191 rebounds, and 96 assists in 65 games, averaging 9.5 points per contest overall. This marked a clear evolution from a high-volume scorer in junior college to a versatile guard who adapted to a team-oriented system, becoming a clutch performer in critical conference games.[4]Professional career
Early professional years (2007–2009)
Following his college tenure at the University at Albany, Jason Siggers signed his first professional contract with the Bakken Bears of the Danish Basketligaen on August 11, 2007, marking the start of his overseas career. In his debut season (2007–2008), Siggers emerged as a key contributor for the Bears, earning both Player of the Year and Guard of the Year honors in the league.[15] His scoring prowess was evident in standout performances, including a season-high 33 points in a January 2008 victory over Randers Cimbria.[16] The Bears clinched the 2008 Basketligaen Championship, with Siggers playing a pivotal role in their title run.[15] In 2008, Siggers transitioned to the Swiss League Nationale A (LNA), joining BC Boncourt for the 2008–2009 season.[17] There, he averaged 19.4 points per game over 34.8 minutes of play, establishing himself as one of the league's top scorers.[18] Siggers showcased his athleticism by winning the 2009 Swiss Slam Dunk Contest during the LNA All-Star Weekend on April 26.[19] This early European experience in Denmark and Switzerland highlighted his adaptability to professional demands, including the physicality of senior leagues and the nuances of international competition.Career in France (2009–2015)
Siggers began his professional career in France in 2009, signing with Lille MBC of the LNB Pro B, the country's second-tier league, where he quickly established himself as a reliable scoring option off the bench. In the 2009–10 season, he appeared in 37 games for Lille, averaging 17.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 55.1% from the field and 87.7% from the free-throw line.[6] His efficient scoring and playmaking helped the team, marking his transition from earlier European stints to a more consistent role in a competitive domestic league. In 2010, Siggers joined Rouen Métropole Basket, also in Pro B, for what would become his most productive stretch in France. During the 2010–11 season, he averaged 18.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 37 games, improving his three-point shooting to 37.3%.[6] The following year, 2011–12, Siggers elevated his game further, leading the Pro B in scoring with an average of 18.5 points per game while adding 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 32 appearances; his free-throw accuracy reached 91.6%, underscoring his development into a primary offensive threat as a starter.[20][6] Siggers returned to Lille MBC for the 2012–13 season in Pro B, where he maintained strong scoring output at 18.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game over 32 contests.[6] Mid-season, he moved to SIG Strasbourg in the top-tier LNB Pro A, adapting to a lesser role with averages of 7.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 10 games.[6] His performance across both levels earned him a spot on the Eurobasket.com All-French Pro B Second Team as a shooting guard.[21] Later seasons saw Siggers continue his versatility between Pro B teams. With Boulazac Basket Dordogne in 2013–14, he averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 43 games, contributing to the team's promotion push.[6] In his final French campaign, 2014–15, with Saint-Quentin BB, Siggers posted 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 32 outings, shooting 40.0% from three-point range and solidifying his reputation as a scoring guard-forward capable of leading multiple franchises.[6] Over his six years in France, Siggers evolved from a rotational player to a go-to scorer, averaging nearly 17 points per game across Pro A and Pro B while honing his perimeter efficiency.First stint in Israel (2015–2018)
In 2015, Jason Siggers joined Hapoel Gilboa Galil in Israel's National League, where he quickly established himself as a key scoring threat. Over 35 games, he averaged 20.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, contributing significantly to the team's championship run.[6] His performance earned him the Finals MVP and Guard of the Year honors in the league.[22] This success helped promote Hapoel Gilboa Galil to the top-tier Winner League for the following season. During the 2016–17 Winner League campaign with Hapoel Gilboa Galil, Siggers maintained strong production, averaging 17.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals across 33 regular-season games.[23] He was recognized as the league's Sixth Man of the Year for his impactful bench contributions.[23] Siggers also earned Round 3 MVP early in the season and Round 31 MVP later, highlighted by a 27-point performance including a game-winning buzzer-beater three-pointer against Maccabi Tel Aviv.[24] His scoring prowess aided the team's playoff qualification, though they were eliminated in the quarterfinals. In 2017, Siggers transferred to Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Winner League, where he adapted his game to provide consistent scoring in a competitive environment. Across 26 games, he averaged 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.[6] His efforts supported the team's postseason push to the semifinals, showcasing his ability to perform in high-stakes matches.[2] Building on his French league experience, which honed his perimeter shooting, Siggers thrived in Israel's faster tempo, emphasizing quick transitions and defensive intensity.[6]Season in South Korea (2018–2019)
In November 2018, following a successful season in Israel where he averaged 14.3 points per game, Jason Siggers signed with the Goyang Orions of the Korean Basketball League (KBL) as a replacement for JeQuan Lewis.[25] The move marked his first professional experience in Asia, bringing his veteran scoring ability to a team seeking offensive reinforcement during the 2018–2019 campaign.[26] Siggers quickly adapted to the KBL's fast-paced, high-scoring style, which emphasizes quick transitions and perimeter shooting in contrast to the more tactical, defense-oriented play common in European leagues.[27] In his early games, he provided efficient scoring and rebounding, exemplified by a December 8, 2018, performance against the Changwon LG Sakers where he tallied 17 points and 8 rebounds, contributing to a team victory.[28] Over his initial outings, he averaged approximately 13 points per game, showcasing his ability to read defenses and create scoring opportunities despite the league's physical demands and cultural adjustment to team-oriented play in South Korea.[29] His stint was abruptly halted by injury in late January 2019. During a January 26 game against the Anyang KGC Ginseng Corporation, Siggers aggravated a pre-existing left hand issue, resulting in a complex metacarpal fracture diagnosed as requiring 8 weeks of recovery.[30] The injury effectively ended his season, leading the Orions to terminate his contract and replace him with Josh Eckovian on January 31.[31] This disruption limited Siggers to about 20 games, underscoring the challenges of maintaining consistency in a new competitive environment marked by intense schedules and varying officiating compared to his prior experiences in France and Israel.[32]Return to Israel (2019–present)
After departing South Korea, Jason Siggers returned to Israel in 2019, signing with Hapoel Haifa of the Israeli National League for the 2019–20 season.[6] In 20 games, he averaged 20.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, providing key scoring as a guard-forward while helping the team maintain its competitive standing in the league.[6] The following 2020–21 season, Hapoel Haifa competed in the Israeli Premier League (ISR-1), where Siggers appeared in 31 games, averaging 15.5 points and contributing to the team's efforts to stabilize its position amid a challenging schedule that included Balkan International Basketball League play, where he added 13.8 points over four outings.[6] In 2021, Siggers joined Maccabi Ra'anana in the National League (ISR-2), where he quickly became a cornerstone player. During the 2021–22 season, he played 34 games, averaging 23.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.[6] The 2022–23 campaign saw him average 18.7 points over 30 games, including a career-high 44 points on October 25, 2022, solidifying his role as the team's primary scorer and helping build momentum for future success.[8][6] During the 2022–23 preseason, Siggers participated in NBA exhibition games with Maccabi Ra'anana, scoring a high of 40 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 9, 2022.[9] His prior experience in Israel facilitated a seamless transition, allowing him to adapt quickly to the league's style. In 2023–24, Siggers had limited regular-season appearances in the National League while participating in the NBA preseason, averaging 10.7 points in three exhibition games.[2] He also played in preseason games against the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Siggers briefly returned to the United States in 2024, playing for Honcho Elite in the Eastern Basketball Alliance (EBA), a minor professional league, before rejoining Maccabi Ra'anana for the 2024–25 National League season.[33] With Ra'anana, he contributed to their championship run in the Leumit League, securing promotion to the Israeli Premier League (Winner League) for the 2025–26 season. As of November 20, 2025, in the early 2025–26 Winner League season, Siggers has appeared in multiple games for the newly promoted team, continuing as a veteran scorer and mentor.[34]Career achievements and statistics
