Marco Tronchetti Provera
Marco Tronchetti Provera (born 1948) is an Italian businessman who serves as executive vice chairman of Pirelli & C. S.p.A., the multinational tyre manufacturer, a role he assumed in August 2023 after more than three decades as its chief executive officer.[1] Born in Milan to a family of shipowners, he earned a degree in economics and business administration from Bocconi University in 1971 and initially expanded the family's maritime transport operations before entering Pirelli as a general partner in 1986 and assuming operational leadership in 1992.[1] Through his investment holding company, Marco Tronchetti Provera & C. S.p.A., he maintains control over approximately 26.4% of Pirelli's shares, alongside chairmanships at Camfin S.p.A. and other entities.[1] His tenure at Pirelli has emphasized premium tyre segments and motorsport partnerships, contributing to the company's repositioning as a high-performance specialist.[2] Previously, he chaired major firms including Telecom Italia from 2001 to 2006 and Il Sole 24 Ore from 1996 to 2001, reflecting his broader influence in Italian industry and media.[1]
