Shatrughan Sinha
Shatrughan Prasad Sinha (born 15 July 1946) is an Indian actor and politician known for his extensive career in Hindi cinema and his roles in national politics.[1]
Sinha debuted in films in the late 1960s, appearing in over 150 productions, often portraying characters with a commanding presence accentuated by his distinctive baritone voice, and later received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 for his contributions to Indian cinema.[2][3] Entering politics in the 1990s, he was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Patna Sahib in 1996 on a Janata Dal ticket, later joining the Bharatiya Janata Party and securing the seat in 2009, 2014, and 2019, while serving as Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare from 2002 to 2003 and Minister of Shipping from 2003 to 2004 under the National Democratic Alliance government.[4][5] In 2022, he switched to the All India Trinamool Congress, winning the Asansol by-election and retaining the seat in 2024, marking his continued influence in parliamentary affairs despite shifts in party affiliation.[6][7]
