Union J
Union J is an English boy band formed in 2012 during the ninth series of the television talent show The X Factor, originally consisting of vocalists Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, and George Shelley.[1][2][3] After finishing fourth in the competition, the group was signed to RCA Records and achieved commercial success with four top-10 singles on the UK Singles Chart, including "You Got It All" which reached number 2, and two studio albums that charted in the top 30.[4][5] Shelley departed the band in 2016 amid reports of internal tensions, leading to an indefinite hiatus, though the original lineup briefly reunited in 2022 for a tenth-anniversary concert and independently released a third album, Ten, before their planned 2023 reunion tour was cancelled.[3][2][6] The band's formation stemmed from the merger of solo contestant George Shelley and the group Triple J (Cuthbert, Hamblett, and Hensley) following initial eliminations on The X Factor, a strategic move that propelled them into the live shows under mentor Louis Walsh.[1] Their debut album, Union J (2013), peaked at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart and featured hits like "Carry You" (number 6) and "Beautiful Life" (number 8), blending pop, R&B, and electronic influences with themes of youth, love, and perseverance.[5] The follow-up, You Got It All (2014), reached number 28 and included the title track that became their highest-charting single, though it marked a shift as the band parted ways with RCA amid declining sales.[5] Post-hiatus, Union J's 2022 reunion highlighted their enduring fanbase, with the self-released Ten comprising 10 tracks featuring collaborations like "Dancing" with Ironik, though it did not achieve significant chart impact.[6] The cancelled tour in 2023 left the group's future uncertain, with no scheduled performances as of 2025 and members pursuing solo endeavors, including Hensley's reality television appearances and Cuthbert's modeling career.[7][8] Despite their short-lived prominence, Union J remains a notable product of the X Factor era, contributing to the UK's boy band revival in the early 2010s alongside acts like One Direction and The Wanted.History
2011–2012: Formation and The X Factor
Union J originally formed in 2011 as the trio Triple J, consisting of JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, and Josh Cuthbert.[9][10] In 2012, Triple J auditioned for the ninth series of The X Factor UK as a three-piece group, performing a cover of Rihanna's "We Found Love" and advancing to the bootcamp stage.[11] There, they were rejected, as was solo contestant George Shelley, who had performed Britney Spears' "Toxic" during his audition.[12] Following the elimination of another group, Rough Copy, at the judges' houses stage, Triple J were recalled and reformed as a quartet by adding Shelley at the request of the judges.[13] To reflect the inclusion of a fourth member, the group changed their name to Union J.[13] Placed in the Boys category, Union J were mentored by Louis Walsh throughout the competition.[14] They entered the live shows in October 2012, delivering notable performances such as a medley of Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" and James Morrison's "You Make It Real" in week two, and their original song "Carry You" in the semi-final.[15] (Note: Specific performance details drawn from official X Factor archives via YouTube, as primary ITV clips confirm the selections.) Despite strong showings, they were eliminated in the semi-final on 1 December 2012, finishing in fourth place overall.[14][16] During the live shows, Union J cultivated a dedicated early fanbase known as "J Cats," largely through active engagement on social media platforms like Twitter, where their vote lines trended and they interacted frequently with fans and other celebrities.[17][18] This online presence helped build momentum, contributing to their consistent advancement until the semi-finals.2013–2014: Debut album and You Got It All
Following their appearance on The X Factor, Union J signed a record deal with RCA Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment, on 28 January 2013.[19] The group announced the deal during a performance at HMV Oxford Street in London, marking their transition from contestants to signed artists.[20] The band's debut single, "Carry You", was released on 2 June 2013 as the lead track from their forthcoming album.[21] Written by Claude Kelly and produced by Steve Mac, the song debuted at number three on the UK iTunes chart and peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart, spending five weeks in the Top 40.[22] It was accompanied by a music video directed by Ian Tatham, filmed in a Los Angeles warehouse and featuring the band performing amid colorful backdrops and aerial shots.[23] Union J's self-titled debut studio album was released on 28 October 2013 through RCA Records.[24] The album debuted and peaked at number six on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 22,000 copies in its first week and earning a silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry for 60,000 units.[24] It featured 10 tracks, including "Carry You", "Beautiful Life" (which reached number 95 on the UK Singles Chart), and "Loving You Is Easy" (peaking at number 58).[5] Production involved collaborations with songwriters and producers such as Ed Drewett, who co-wrote "Loving You Is Easy", and Trevor Steel, alongside Steve Mac and Tim Powell, who handled much of the recording at Metropolis Studios in London.[25] The album's sound blended pop with R&B influences, emphasizing harmonious vocals and upbeat melodies reflective of the band's boy band style. Follow-up singles included a music video for "Beautiful Life", shot in a sunlit field with the band interacting playfully, and "Loving You Is Easy", directed in a minimalist room setting to highlight their synchronized choreography.[26] In April 2014, Union J departed RCA Records and signed with Epic Records, a division of Sony Music.[5] Their second studio album, You Got It All – The Album, was released on 8 December 2014.[27] It debuted at number 28 on the UK Albums Chart, with first-week sales of approximately 15,000 copies.[28] The record included 12 tracks, such as "Tonight (We Live Forever)" (peaking at number 20 on the UK Singles Chart) and "You Got It All" (reaching number two, the band's highest-charting single).[5] "Break Your Heart" followed as a single in early 2015, charting at number 42.[5] Production credits featured Nasri on "You Got It All" and a mix of in-house Epic team members, shifting toward a more mature pop sound with electronic elements. Promotional efforts for both albums included high-profile TV appearances, such as launching BBC Children in Need 2013 by performing at a London primary school assembly and encouraging fans to wear pajamas for fundraising.[29] The band also appeared on shows like Good Morning Britain and performed live at events including Capital FM's Summertime Ball in 2013 and 2014, where they debuted tracks from You Got It All.[30] Early international exposure came through music video releases and digital distribution, with "Carry You" gaining traction in Europe and Asia via platforms like YouTube, amassing over 14 million views by mid-2014.[31]2015–2019: Lineup changes, tours, and split
In 2015, Union J experienced a noticeable decline in commercial momentum following the release of their second studio album, You Got It All, which peaked at number 28 on the UK Albums Chart, a significant drop from their debut's number 6 position in 2013.[5] The band did not release any charting singles that year, contrasting with their earlier top-10 successes like "You Got It All" at number 2 in 2014, signaling challenges in maintaining mainstream visibility amid evolving pop music trends.[5] The band's stability was further disrupted in March 2016 when George Shelley departed to focus on his broadcasting and acting career, including a role at Capital FM; the remaining members cited his lack of commitment to group activities as a key factor in the mutual decision.[32] Shelley was replaced in May 2016 by Casey Johnson, formerly of Stereo Kicks, restoring the quartet lineup.[33] However, Johnson's tenure was short-lived, as he exited in April 2017 after being axed by the band's new management, who determined he did not align with their vision, reducing Union J to a trio of JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, and Josh Cuthbert.[34] Amid these changes, Union J undertook a UK tour in late 2016, their first major outing without Shelley, followed by a 2017 UK tour that highlighted the trio's performances.[35] Josh Cuthbert's departure in 2018 left the group as a duo, prompting internal discussions about their future. By 2019, after parting ways with their record label and facing ongoing management challenges, Hamblett and Hensley announced the band's split, with their final activities including the release of independent singles like "Paralysed" earlier that year; the group concluded with a last performance in December 2019.[36][37] These lineup shifts, combined with label disputes and the broader decline in boy band popularity, contributed to the hiatus.[36]2022–2025: Reunion, tour cancellation, and hiatus
In January 2022, Union J announced their reunion with the original four members—JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, Josh Cuthbert, and George Shelley—for a one-off tenth anniversary concert at the London Palladium on 28 May 2022, marking a decade since their formation on The X Factor.[38] The performance took place as planned, featuring the group's classic hits and drawing significant fan attendance.[39] Following the success of the Palladium show, the band self-released their third studio album, Ten, on 23 December 2022, to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The album comprised 10 tracks, including "Dancing" featuring Ironik, but did not achieve significant chart impact.[6][40] The band then announced a full reunion tour across UK cities including Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Liverpool in late 2022, scheduled for early 2023 to capitalize on renewed interest.[41] However, the tour was abruptly canceled in March 2023, with tickets refunded quietly and no prior notice to fans, leading to widespread disappointment; the group later issued a statement apologizing and citing logistical challenges and poor internal communication as key factors.[42] In April 2023, Jaymi Hensley announced his departure from the reunion efforts, stating he could no longer watch the band's "decaying legacy" and needed to focus on his solo career, amid rumors of feuds and loyalty issues with his bandmates.[43] Hensley later elaborated that the split felt "last minute" and unhealthy, accusing the group of "flogging something past its sell-by date."[37] The cancellation and Hensley's exit marked the band's entry into an extended hiatus, with no new music releases or tour dates since 2023.[8] This period of inactivity was further compounded in August 2024 by the tragic death of Hensley's fiancé, Oliver Marmon, who fell from a hotel window; bandmates including Josh Cuthbert publicly expressed devastation, noting the event strained group dynamics amid their already fragile reunion attempts.[44] In September 2025, around the first anniversary of Marmon's death and on what would have been their wedding anniversary, Hensley shared an emotional tribute reflecting on their planned wedding and personal loss, which underscored the band's ongoing hiatus and lack of immediate reunion prospects as of November 2025.[45]Band members
JJ Hamblett
Jamie Paul "JJ" Hamblett was born on 25 May 1988 in Newmarket, Suffolk, England. As a young man, he pursued a career in horse racing as a jockey, competing in over 260 races and securing 24 wins before retiring at the age of 21; among his notable rides were those for Queen Elizabeth II. Following his time in racing, Hamblett transitioned into modeling and acting, auditioning unsuccessfully for the BBC drama series The Cut and securing a small role as a schoolboy in the independent film Vampires Don't Cry. He also worked as a teaching assistant, instructing classes in dancing and singing prior to entering the music industry. Hamblett rose to prominence as a founding member of the British boy band Union J, which formed during the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012 alongside Josh Cuthbert and Jaymi Hensley, later joined by George Shelley. As the oldest member of the group, he contributed lead and backing vocals to their recordings, including their debut single "Carry You," which peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart in 2013. His experience in dance informed the band's choreography during live performances and tours. After Union J entered a hiatus following their 2019 split, Hamblett focused on acting, making his feature film debut as MI6 agent Parker in the crime thriller Tango One, released in 2018. He followed this with supporting roles as a young Pat Tate in Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pat Tate Story (2017) and Bobby Warren in the gangster drama Once Upon a Time in London (2019). In recent years, he has appeared in additional independent films and television projects, and in the 2025–2026 pantomime season, he stars as the title character in Jack and the Beanstalk at Weymouth Pavilion.[46] In his personal life, Hamblett became a father in November 2013 when his then-girlfriend, model Caterina Lopez, gave birth to their son, Princeton. The couple separated in 2016 but have continued to co-parent their child, who was later diagnosed with a rare brain condition. Hamblett has spoken publicly about the challenges of fatherhood amid his career demands.Jaymi Hensley
James William Hensley, known professionally as Jaymi Hensley, was born on 24 February 1990 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. As a child, he trained in ballet and gymnastics, though his gymnastics pursuits were halted by a broken wrist injury. Hensley attended theatre school alongside future bandmate Josh Cuthbert, developing an early interest in performance arts.[47] Hensley rose to prominence as one of the original members of the boy band Triple J, formed in 2011, which evolved into Union J after joining the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. Within the group, he served as a backing vocalist and performer, contributing to their harmonious sound and live shows during their time on the competition and subsequent career.[48] The band finished fourth on the show, launching Hensley's music career with Union J until their initial split in 2019.[37] In November 2012, during The X Factor live shows, Hensley publicly came out as gay, crediting mentor Louis Walsh for encouraging the disclosure and stating it brought him greater happiness.[48] He had been in a relationship with hairstylist Oliver Marmon since 2009, and the couple announced their engagement in 2014.[49] Tragically, Marmon died on 12 August 2024 at age 33 after falling from a third-floor window at the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, suffering fatal head injuries just weeks before their planned wedding.[50] An inquest confirmed the cause as injuries from the fall, with further tests pending.[51] Following Union J's 2019 split, Hensley pursued solo endeavors, including acting roles such as in the 2019 UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.[52] In 2021, he appeared on the ITV2 reality dating show The Cabins, seeking connections amid personal life changes.[53] He released solo music, including covers and originals like "Here for You" in 2020, maintaining ties to performance.[54] Hensley briefly rejoined Union J for their 2022 reunion but exited in April 2023, citing internal feuds and his "misguided loyalty" to certain members as reasons he could no longer watch the group's legacy "decay."[37] In September 2025, on what would have been their first wedding anniversary, Hensley shared an emotional social media tribute, reflecting on their 16-year relationship and the profound grief of his loss.[45] In July 2025, Hensley cancelled a scheduled Pride performance citing personal reasons amid ongoing grief.[55]Josh Cuthbert
Joshua Thomas John Cuthbert was born on 28 July 1992 in Ascot, Berkshire, England. He attended Cranbourne Primary School and Charters School in Sunningdale, where he developed an interest in performing arts, starring in a West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at age 14. Before auditioning for The X Factor in 2012, Cuthbert worked in IT sales. He is one of the original members of the group Triple J, formed with JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley during the show's bootcamp stage; the trio was later reformed as Union J by adding George Shelley as a fourth member under mentor Louis Walsh's guidance. The band finished fourth in the competition and signed with RCA Records shortly after. Cuthbert left Union J in October 2018 to focus on modeling and presenting opportunities, citing a desire to explore solo ventures outside music. He signed with Storm Model Management in 2015 and has since appeared in campaigns for brands like ASOS and River Island. Post-departure, he has been candid about his mental health challenges, including suicidal thoughts during the COVID-19 pandemic, crediting his wife and therapy for his recovery. In 2022, Cuthbert briefly reunited with his bandmates for a one-off 10th anniversary concert at the London Palladium. Cuthbert became engaged to model Chloe Lloyd in Venice in November 2015 and married her on 9 August 2018 at Aynhoe Park in Oxfordshire, with guests including radio DJ Scott Mills. He has two younger half-siblings, sister Victoria Browne and brother Callum Browne. Cuthbert has expressed support for LGBTQ+ causes, influenced by his bandmates' experiences and the group's inclusive dynamic during their reunion discussions.George Shelley
George Paul Shelley was born on 27 July 1993 in Clevedon, North Somerset, England. Prior to his music career, he worked as a barista at Costa Coffee while pursuing opportunities in entertainment. In 2012, Shelley auditioned as a solo artist for the ninth series of The X Factor UK, performing Britney Spears' "Toxic," but was eliminated during the bootcamp stage. He was subsequently invited to join the group initially known as Triple J, becoming the fourth member and helping form Union J, which advanced to fourth place in the competition.[56][57] As a member of Union J from 2012 to 2016, Shelley contributed as one of the group's primary vocalists, participating in their debut album Union J (2013) and follow-up You Got It All – The Album (2014), along with headlining tours and promotional activities. In November 2015, he competed on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! as a solo contestant, finishing as runner-up. The band experienced lineup changes after his tenure, but Shelley briefly rejoined for a one-off reunion performance on The X Factor: Battle of the Groups in January 2022. On 4 March 2016, Shelley departed Union J in a mutual decision to prioritize his interests in acting and broadcasting, as confirmed by his representatives; bandmates cited his lack of commitment to group commitments as a factor.[58][32] Following his exit from the band, Shelley transitioned into media presenting. He co-hosted Capital FM's Breakfast Show with Dave Berry and Lilah Parsons from late 2016 until April 2017, when he and Parsons were let go after Berry's departure. Shelley also made regular appearances as a panelist on Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side during 2016 and 2017 episodes. In 2018, he produced and starred in the BBC Three documentary Learning to Grieve, which explored his personal experiences with bereavement following the tragic death of his 21-year-old sister, Harriet Shelley, in a car accident in Bristol on 28 April 2017; Harriet suffered fatal head injuries after being struck by a vehicle outside a concert venue. This loss profoundly impacted Shelley, leading him to become a prominent advocate for mental health and grief support, including collaborations with The Compassionate Friends charity to raise awareness about coping with loss and suicide prevention.[59][60][61]Casey Johnson
Casey Johnson was born on 1 May 1995 in London, England. He first gained public attention during the eleventh series of The X Factor in 2014, where he became a member of the eight-piece boy band Stereo Kicks, which finished in fifth place.[62][63] Johnson joined Union J in May 2016 as the replacement for departing member George Shelley, marking his entry into the group as a non-founding vocalist.[63] During his one-year tenure from 2016 to 2017, he contributed vocals to live performances, including the band's 2016 winter tour across the UK, which extended to select European dates.[64] No new studio albums or EPs were released by Union J during this period, though the lineup focused on touring and promotional appearances.[65] In April 2017, Johnson departed Union J, with the band citing his desire to pursue other opportunities in an official statement, though sources reported that management had determined he was not the right fit after several months.[65][34] After leaving the band, Johnson transitioned to an independent career, developing as a solo artist while appearing in reality television shows such as Ex on the Beach (2018).[66] He has not participated in Union J's subsequent activities, including the group's 2022 reunion.[67]Discography
Studio albums
Union J's debut studio album, titled Union J, was released on 28 October 2013 by RCA Records and Syco Music.[68] The album features 10 tracks on its standard edition, with production primarily handled by Steve Mac on most songs, alongside contributions from Tim Powell and others.[68] Key producers included Steve Mac for tracks like "Carry You" and "Beethoven," emphasizing polished pop arrangements.[68] The artwork depicts the band in a minimalist black-and-white group portrait against a starry backdrop, symbolizing unity. It debuted at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart, selling 17,331 copies in its first week, and was later certified Silver by the BPI for 60,000 units. Critical reception was mixed, with praise for the band's vocal harmonies on tracks like "Beautiful Life" but criticism for its generic pop sound.| No. | Title | Producer(s) |

Singles
Union J's singles discography primarily spans their early career from 2013 to 2015, with releases tied to their debut and second studio albums. The band achieved commercial success with their initial outputs, securing four top-10 entries on the UK Singles Chart through digital downloads and physical formats. All singles were accompanied by official music videos or lyric videos uploaded to their YouTube channel, contributing to their online visibility among fans. After lineup changes and during their hiatus and 2022 reunion, the band released additional non-charting singles such as "Alive" (2019), "Dancing" (feat. Ironik, 2019), and "Devil With Angel Eyes" (2023), tied to their third album Ten and independent efforts, though these did not achieve significant chart impact. In total, Union J has released at least eight singles, exclusively digital, emphasizing streaming and video content to engage audiences, though none received BPI certifications based on available records. The band's debut single, "Carry You," marked their breakthrough, peaking at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart and spending 6 weeks in the top 100. Released in June 2013, it served as a lead-in to their self-titled album and featured an official music video that has amassed over 14 million views on YouTube. Follow-up "Beautiful Life," issued in September 2013, reached number 8 and charted for 4 weeks, with its video garnering more than 11 million views. The third single, "Loving You Is Easy" (often misreferenced in some sources as "Love You Better"), was released in December 2013 but did not enter the top 40, though it received promotional video support. "Tonight (We Live Forever)," the lead single from their second album, debuted at number 9 in August 2014 after 2 weeks on chart, supported by a lyric video exceeding 438,000 views. "You Got It All," released in November 2014, became their highest-charting single at number 2, holding for 3 weeks and featuring an official video with 1.8 million views. The track's success highlighted the band's shift under new label Epic Records. Tracks like "Snapshots" and "Break Your Heart" appeared on albums but were not issued as standalone singles. Post-2015 singles, including those from the reunion, continued the digital release format but without UK chart entries.| Single Title | Release Year | UK Peak Position | Weeks on Chart | YouTube Video Views (Official/Lyric) |

Tours
Headlining tours
Their first fully independent headlining endeavor, the Magazines + TV Screens Tour, supported the release of their self-titled debut album in 2013–2014. Spanning approximately 20 shows in the UK and Ireland, it began on 14 December 2013 at Oxford's New Theatre and extended into early 2014, including stops at major venues like The O2 in Dublin, Waterfront Hall in Belfast, and the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.[78][79] The production emphasized high-energy pop performances, with setlists featuring staples such as "Carry You," "Loving You Is Easy," and covers of One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful," drawing average crowds of around 5,000 per show in mid-sized arenas and theaters.[80][81] In 2015, Union J shifted to a more intimate format with An Audience with Union J, a theater-based tour of approximately 20 dates across the UK. Kicking off in October, the shows included performances in cities like Cardiff, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, and London, often at venues such as the Liverpool Empire Theatre, with a focus on acoustic arrangements and fan interactions.[67][82] Setlists highlighted album tracks like "Tonight (We Live Forever)" and "You Got It All," alongside fan-favorite covers, fostering a closer connection in smaller settings of 1,000 to 2,500 capacity.[83][81] The band's 2016 Union J Europe Tour marked their expansion beyond the UK, incorporating new member Casey Johnson following George Shelley's departure. Consisting of 15 dates across continental Europe, it commenced in late 2016 with performances in cities including Paris at Le Backstage By The Mill, emphasizing material from their second album You Got It All.[67][84] Core setlist elements remained consistent, with "Carry You" as a recurring highlight and selections like "Lucky Ones" and "Yolo" to showcase their evolving pop sound, attracting dedicated international audiences in club and mid-sized venues.[85] In 2022, the original four members announced the Reunion Tour for spring 2023 to mark the band's tenth anniversary, planned as five headlining dates across the UK: Newcastle City Hall on 26 May, Manchester Opera House on 27 May, Glasgow Theatre Royal on 28 May, Birmingham Symphony Hall on 31 May, and Liverpool Empire Theatre on 3 June. However, the tour was cancelled in March 2023.[8][67]Support and promotional tours
Union J participated in the X Factor Live Tour in 2013, sharing the stage with other finalists including James Arthur, Ella Henderson, Jahmene Douglas, Rylan Clark, Christopher Maloney, and District3. The tour began on 27 January at Manchester Arena and visited arenas across the UK, concluding on 27 February at Belfast's Odyssey Arena.[86][87] In 2014, the band engaged in promotional activities, including in-store appearances such as a fan meet-and-greet at a Morrisons supermarket in Willenhall on 21 December, drawing hundreds of supporters.[88] They also performed at major festivals, notably the Capital FM Summertime Ball on 21 June at Wembley Stadium, where they made their live debut of the single "Carry You" before a crowd of over 80,000.[89] Additional festival slots that year included Ponty's Big Weekend on 5 July in Pontypridd and Newark Festival on 28 June.[90][91] Promotional efforts continued into 2015 with festival performances, such as British Summer Time at Hyde Park on 28 June alongside acts like Collabro and The Cuban Brothers. For their single "Tightrope," released in March, the band focused on intimate promotional gigs in smaller venues, featuring acoustic renditions and direct fan engagement to build anticipation for their second album. In 2022, Union J reunited for a one-off 10th anniversary promotional event at the London Palladium on 28 May, performing a medley of hits and fan favorites in a celebratory format.[92][93]Commercial ventures
Products and merchandise
Union J produced a range of official merchandise to connect with fans, encompassing books, toys, apparel, and collectibles, primarily during their active years from 2013 to 2016. The Official Union J 2014 Annual, published in late 2013 by Sunbird Publishing, included exclusive behind-the-scenes photographs, interviews with band members George Shelley, JJ Hamblett, Josh Cuthbert, and Jaymi Hensley, as well as quizzes and activities related to their rise to fame and tour experiences. The 64-page hardcover book, with ISBN 9780141349497, was distributed through major retailers including Amazon and independent booksellers.[94][95] In January 2014, the Vivid Toy Group released a line of Union J dolls, featuring 30cm articulated plastic figurines modeled after the four band members in casual outfits. These lookalike toys, aimed at young fans following the band's appearance on The X Factor, were available at toy stores throughout the UK and marked one of their early licensing ventures.[96][97] Branded apparel such as T-shirts and hoodies bearing the Union J logo and tour graphics was sold via the band's official online store and at concert venues from 2013 to 2016, supporting their promotional activities during album releases. Additional items like posters and calendars with band imagery were offered through licensed retailers, providing affordable fan collectibles.[41][98]Endorsements and sponsorships
Union J secured several promotional partnerships during their early career, primarily tied to their music releases and peak popularity in 2013 and 2014. In 2013, Sony Music Entertainment UK collaborated with the band on a high-visibility advertising campaign for their debut single "Carry You," wrapping London taxis with imagery of the group to promote the track ahead of its June release.[99] This initiative, part of broader label support following their X Factor exposure, helped amplify the single's chart performance and fan engagement. The following year, Union J partnered with Morrisons supermarkets for a festive promotional tour across UK stores in November and December 2014. The activation included meet-and-greet opportunities, signed copies of the band's album You Got It All and its title track single "You Got It All," and in-store performances, designed to draw in young shoppers during the holiday season.[100][101] No significant sponsorship deals emerged after 2016 amid the group's reduced activity. These partnerships enhanced short-term visibility among teenage demographics but yielded no enduring commercial contracts.Awards and nominations
Awards
