Azlan Man
Dato' Seri Azlan bin Man (born 1958) is a Malaysian politician and former career diplomat who served as the ninth Menteri Besar of Perlis from 2013 to 2022.[1] Representing the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) within the Barisan Nasional coalition, he held the Perlis state assembly seats of Pauh from 2013 to 2018 and Bintong from 2018 to 2022.[1] During his tenure, Azlan navigated internal party conflicts, including being sacked from the state UMNO leadership shortly before securing a second term in 2018.[2] He has since faced significant legal scrutiny, pleading not guilty to multiple charges of misappropriating over RM1 million in Perlis government funds through false claims for overseas leave facilities and family trips, primarily to the United Kingdom, between 2014 and 2017.[3][4] These proceedings, ongoing as of 2025, involve allegations of unauthorized refunds for cancelled bookings and lack of executive council approval for cashing out leave benefits.[5][6]
