SF9
SF9 (에스에프나인; stylized in all caps) is a South Korean boy band formed and managed by FNC Entertainment.[1] The group debuted on October 5, 2016, with the single album Feeling Sensation, marking FNC's first dance-focused boy group.[1] Emerging from the agency's trainee system known as NEOZ School, SF9 originated as the winning dance team from the 2016 survival program d.o.b (Dance or Band).[2] Originally a nine-member ensemble consisting of Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Zuho, Rowoon, Taeyang, Hwiyoung, and Chani, the group's name stands for "Sensational Feeling 9," meaning "boys who will astonish the world" with their sensational feeling.[3] In September 2023, Rowoon departed SF9 to prioritize his acting career, reducing the lineup to eight members who renewed their contracts with FNC Entertainment.[4] SF9 has built a reputation for their synchronized choreography, versatile discography blending pop, R&B, and electronic elements, and strong fan engagement through their fandom name, Fantasy.[5] Notable releases include their 2018 mini-album Sensuous, which charted on Billboard's World Albums chart, and their 2024 EP Fantasy, which explored themes of dreams and self-discovery.[5][6] The group has earned accolades such as the Rising Star Award at the 2018 Asia Artist Awards and achieved personal best sales with albums like Good Guy in 2020.[7][8] As of November 2025, SF9 remains active despite challenges from mandatory military enlistment, such as Dawon's ongoing service, as well as individual pursuits in acting, music production, and variety shows for others.[9] The group continues to tour internationally, with their 2025 LIVE FANTASY #5 LOVE DAWN concert series featuring core members Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Hwiyoung, and Chani across Europe and the United States.[10]History
Pre-debut activities (2012–2015)
FNC Entertainment initiated the NEOZ project in late 2015 as a specialized trainee system designed to cultivate a new boy dance group, marking the company's first such focused program for male idols emphasizing performance artistry. The initiative, known as NEOZ School, was publicly launched through a dedicated YouTube channel in December 2015, showcasing the trainees' daily routines, skill development, and group dynamics to build anticipation for their debut. The original lineup consisted of 11 trainees introduced under the NEOZ name, who made their first public appearance together at the FNC Kingdom 2015 concert in Japan on December 11, 2015, performing a set that highlighted their synchronized dance routines and stage presence. These trainees, including future SF9 members such as Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Rowoon, Zuho, Taeyang, Hwiyoung, Dawon, and Chani, along with two others who later departed, underwent intensive pre-debut preparation within FNC's broader trainee framework, with some individuals having joined the agency as early as 2010 for foundational skill-building. Central to the NEOZ School curriculum was a multi-year emphasis on dance proficiency, vocal training, and overall performance execution, tailored to create a dance-centric subunit capable of high-energy choreography and live staging. This preparation culminated in the selection of the NEOZ Dance Team for the Mnet survival program D.O.B (Dance or Band), announced in early 2016, where they competed against the NEOZ Band subunit to determine FNC's next debut act, ultimately securing their path to forming SF9 as the victorious dance group.Debut and initial releases (2016–2017)
SF9 made their official debut on October 5, 2016, with the release of their single album Feeling Sensation, which featured the energetic dance-pop title track "Fanfare" alongside B-sides "K.O." and "Together". The group, positioned by FNC Entertainment as their first dance-oriented boy band, emphasized synchronized choreography in their promotions to highlight their performance skills. Their debut stage occurred on M Countdown the following day, October 6, followed by appearances on programs such as Inkigayo and Music Bank, where "Fanfare" showcased their powerful formations and athletic dance routines. The album achieved a strong initial reception, ranking sixth on Gaon's weekly album chart for the period of October 16–22, 2016, establishing SF9's foundation in the competitive K-pop landscape. In February 2017, SF9 released their first mini-album Burning Sensation on the 6th, led by the track "Roar," a high-energy song that further accentuated their dance prowess through intricate footwork and group dynamics. Promotions for "Roar" included live performances on major music shows, reinforcing their identity as a visually dynamic act with a focus on live synchronization over vocal-heavy elements. The title track topped China's Yinyuetai V Chart in its debut week, signaling early international appeal within Asia. On January 12, 2017—marking their 100th day since debut—the group announced "Fantasy" as their official fandom name during a V Live broadcast, symbolizing the shared dreams between members and fans, which helped solidify their domestic fanbase during these initial promotions. Expanding to Japan, SF9 released their debut single there on June 7, 2017, featuring Japanese versions of "Fanfare," "Roar," and "K.O.," along with a new track "Love Race." The single debuted at No. 14 on Billboard Japan's Hot 100 and No. 6 on Oricon weekly singles chart, reflecting a promising entry into the market and building on their dance-centric image through showcase performances in Tokyo and Osaka. These early releases and activities laid the groundwork for SF9's reputation as a performance-driven group, prioritizing elaborate choreography in live settings to captivate audiences in South Korea and Japan.International expansion (2018–2019)
In 2018, SF9 continued their momentum with several key releases that bolstered their domestic presence while laying the groundwork for international outreach. Their fourth mini album, Mamma Mia!, arrived on February 26, featuring the upbeat title track of the same name, which showcased the group's signature blend of dance-pop and fantasy-themed choreography. This was followed by the fifth mini album Sensuous on July 31, with the intense track "Unlimited" highlighting their evolving performance style. Later that year, the single album Now or Never dropped on October 31, emphasizing themes of perseverance through its lead track. These efforts contributed to rising album sales, totaling approximately 166,827 copies for the year, a modest increase from the previous year's figures and signaling growing fan engagement. A significant aspect of SF9's international expansion during this period was their continued activity in the Japanese market following their 2017 debut. The Japanese edition of "Mamma Mia!" was released in May 2018, peaking at No. 4 on the Oricon weekly singles chart. In 2019, they escalated with their second Japanese studio album Illuminate on March 20, incorporating tracks like "Enough" (Japanese ver.) and promoting it through dedicated performances. To support these releases, SF9 embarked on their "SF9 Zepp Tour 2018 MAMMA MIA!" across Osaka, Aichi, and Tokyo, marking their first major Japanese concert series and enhancing visibility among international fans. SF9's first dedicated Asia tour, "SF9 1st Asia Tour: FANTASIA," launched in 2018, building on earlier fan meetings and extending their reach beyond Korea. The tour included stops in key Southeast Asian cities, such as a fan meeting in Manila on January 6 titled "2018 SF9 Be My Fantasy in Manila," which drew enthusiastic crowds and solidified their presence in the Philippines. Additional promotions in 2018 featured a fan meeting in Taipei in July, fostering direct interaction with regional supporters. By 2019, this expanded into the broader "2019 SF9 LIVE FANTASY #2 UNIXERSE" Asia tour, announced with dates in Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Manila, though some Southeast Asian legs faced postponements due to logistical issues. These activities heightened SF9's visibility in Southeast Asia, where they participated in regional events like fan signings and media appearances to connect with emerging fanbases. Album sales continued to climb into 2019, reaching about 184,403 copies overall, with the mini album Narcissus (April 2019) becoming their first to exceed 50,000 physical units, underscoring their expanding global footprint.Peak popularity and challenges (2020–2021)
In 2020, SF9 achieved significant commercial success with the release of their first full-length studio album First Collection on January 7, featuring the title track "Good Guy," which showcased their matured sound and marked their highest first-week sales at the time. Later that year, on July 6, they dropped their eighth mini-album 9loryUS, led by the upbeat "Summer Breeze," which not only topped various real-time charts but also earned the group their first-ever music show win on MBC's The Show on July 14. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic's restrictions on live events, SF9 adapted by hosting the online late-night concert "NOOB CON" in August, allowing fans to engage virtually through live performances streamed on V Live. Additionally, their third Japanese studio album Golden Echo, released on December 9, further solidified their international presence with Japanese versions of past hits like "Summer Breeze." The following year brought further highs and adaptations, as SF9 participated in Mnet's survival competition Kingdom: Legendary War from April to June, where their intricate choreography and vocal performances, including reimagined tracks like "Go High," garnered widespread acclaim and boosted their visibility among global audiences. On March 2, all nine members renewed their group contracts with FNC Entertainment, signaling long-term commitment amid their rising popularity. Their ninth mini-album Turn Over, released on July 5 with the emotional lead single "Tear Drop," nearly doubled their previous first-week sales record post-Kingdom, reflecting heightened fan support. To maintain connections during ongoing pandemic limitations, they held the online fan meeting Reply FANTASY on August 15, featuring interactive segments and exclusive content for international viewers. Individual members' acting endeavors also elevated SF9's profile during this period. Rowoon starred as the male lead in the romantic drama She Would Never Know, which premiered on JTBC in January 2021 and highlighted his versatile on-screen presence, while he later took on the dual role in the historical series The King's Affection in October. Chani debuted in the idol drama Imitation on March 1, portraying a key supporting character, and followed with a lead role in The Witch's Diner in July, drawing praise for his emotional depth. Jaeyoon appeared in Netflix's Love Alarm season 2 in March, contributing to the group's crossover appeal in the entertainment industry. These roles not only showcased members' talents beyond music but also introduced SF9 to broader audiences through high-profile dramas.Enlistments, departures, and transitions (2022–2023)
In early 2022, SF9 faced significant changes due to mandatory military enlistments among its members. On March 21, Inseong enlisted in the military band, followed by Youngbin on March 29 as an active-duty soldier in the 27th Infantry Division. These enlistments reduced the group to seven active members for promotions, prompting FNC Entertainment to adjust schedules while emphasizing continued support for the remaining lineup. The group persisted with activities amid these disruptions, releasing their twelfth mini-album, The Piece of9, on January 9, 2023, as a septet featuring Rowoon, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Zuho, Taeyang, Hwiyoung, and Chani. The EP, led by the title track "Puzzle," showcased a mysterious agent concept and marked SF9's return after a six-month hiatus, demonstrating resilience despite the ongoing military services of Inseong and Youngbin. Later that year, on March 21, Jaeyoon enlisted as an active-duty soldier in the 3rd Infantry Division, further impacting group dynamics and leading to scaled-back promotions focused on the six remaining members. In September 2023, following the expiration of contracts renewed in 2021, Rowoon announced his departure from SF9 to prioritize his solo acting career. FNC confirmed on September 18 that Rowoon would step away from group activities while remaining supportive of his former bandmates, allowing SF9 to continue as an eight-member unit excluding his participation. This transition coincided with Zuho's shift to managing solo endeavors outside FNC's full framework, as announced in 2023, enabling him to pursue individual projects like acting while still committed to SF9's collective efforts under the agency. To maintain fan engagement during these transitions, SF9 launched the "ONE DAY PROJECT OF9" fan-con series in 2023, a special event initiative that included performances in Seoul, Macau, and Taipei. These intimate concerts, themed around unlocking "FANDORA" and featuring interactive segments, allowed the available members to connect directly with fans amid reduced full-group releases and enlistment-related absences. The project highlighted the group's adaptability, with promotions emphasizing subunit-like collaborations among active members to sustain momentum. Overall, the period saw SF9 navigate enlistments and departures by prioritizing selective comebacks and fan-focused events, preserving their presence despite a smaller active roster.Recent comebacks and global tours (2024–2025)
In 2024, SF9 marked their return to music releases with the 14th mini album Fantasy, issued on August 19 by FNC Entertainment. The EP featured five tracks, including the lead single "Don't Worry, Be Happy," and showcased a more introspective sound tailored for fans amid the group's evolving lineup following Rowoon's departure in 2023. In 2025, SF9 released their 15th mini-album Love Race, continuing to explore themes of love and growth while adapting to their current active members. The group resumed live performances domestically with their first Seoul concert in over two years, held on June 21 and 22 at KBS Arena as part of the "2025 SF9 LIVE Fantasy #5 LOVE DAWN" series. This event highlighted their renewed energy and fan engagement after a period of individual activities and military enlistments. Building on this momentum, FNC Entertainment announced the "LOVE DAWN 2025 SF9 LIVE FANTASY #5" global tour earlier in 2025, commencing in Europe on October 30 with stops in cities like London and Paris, followed by an extensive U.S. leg featuring 18 shows from early November through late December in venues across Boston, Los Angeles, and New York. The tour, performed by active members Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Hwiyoung, and Chani, emphasized SF9's signature fantasy-themed choreography and hits, drawing international fans to celebrate the group's resilience. Taeyang did not participate due to ongoing treatment for knee and ankle issues, while Dawon remains enlisted until December 2025 and Zuho is on hiatus from group promotions due to his solo acting commitments with Haewadal Entertainment since 2024. On September 27, 2025, SF9 performed at the Yeongdong-daero K-POP Concert in Seoul's Gangnam district, delivering their track "LOVE RACE" as part of a lineup including BTOB and FIFTY FIFTY. This appearance underscored their active role in major K-pop events. Throughout 2024 and 2025, SF9 has continued promotions primarily as a five-member unit of Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Hwiyoung, and Chani, with a shift toward mature concepts exploring themes of love, growth, and fantasy in their visuals and performances, while other members focus on individual pursuits or military service.Members

Kim Seok-woo, professionally known as Rowoon (born August 7, 1996), was a prominent member of SF9, serving as the group's main vocalist and visual from their debut in October 2016 until his exit in September 2023. As a core contributor to the band's sound, Rowoon delivered lead vocals on several of SF9's breakthrough tracks, including the energetic debut single "Fanfare" (2016) and the chart-topping "Good Guy" (2018), helping establish the group's dynamic performance style and fanbase. His vocal range and stage presence were pivotal in live performances and albums like Feeling Sensation (2018), where his parts often highlighted the group's blend of pop and R&B elements.[23][24][25] Rowoon's rising acting profile played a key role in his decision to leave the group. Prior to his departure, he earned acclaim for his role as Jung Ji-woon in the historical drama The King's Affection (2021), which showcased his versatility and garnered him awards, including Best New Actor at the 2022 KBS Drama Awards. Other notable pre-departure roles included leads in Extraordinary You (2019) and Destined with You (2023), which aired just before his announcement and solidified his transition from idol to full-time actor.[26][27] On September 18, 2023—coinciding with the end of his contract with SF9—FNC Entertainment officially confirmed Rowoon's departure, stating he would prioritize solo endeavors, particularly acting, while remaining affiliated with the agency for individual management. Post-departure, Rowoon continued building his acting career with projects like the historical comedy The Matchmakers (2023–2024) and began his mandatory military service on October 27, 2025, as an active-duty soldier.[4][28][29] Rowoon's exit reduced SF9 to an eight-member lineup, prompting a shift in group dynamics as remaining members adjusted to promotions without his visual and vocal anchor; leader Youngbin expressed mixed emotions about the change, noting the group's commitment to evolving forward. This transition occurred amid broader challenges for SF9, including member enlistments, but the agency affirmed the group's ongoing activities as a unit.[30][24]Membership timeline

Artistry
Musical style
SF9, as FNC Entertainment's inaugural dance boy group, distinguishes itself through a dynamic fusion of dance-pop, EDM, and R&B elements, underpinned by meticulously crafted choreography that emphasizes synchronized precision and athletic performance prowess.[36] This stylistic foundation allows the group to deliver high-energy tracks with layered production techniques, including pulsating synths and rhythmic builds typical of EDM influences, as heard in songs like "Enough" and "Tight."[37][38] Over time, SF9's sound has evolved from the vibrant, upbeat tempos of their early work to more introspective and emotionally resonant concepts, showcasing a maturation in genre blending and thematic depth.[39] Later releases, such as the mini-albums Fantasy (2024) and Love Race (2025), incorporate relaxing pop-R&B vibes alongside darker dance-pop intensities and guitar-backed energetic tracks with melodic rap-singing hybrids, reflecting refined production that prioritizes emotional layering and vocal variety over sheer velocity.[40][41][42] This progression highlights their versatility in adapting house and alternative R&B structures to convey nuanced moods.[43] The group's vocal and rap equilibrium further bolsters their musical identity, with vocalists like Inseong contributing soaring high notes for melodic peaks and rappers such as Zuho infusing tracks with deep-toned, fluid flows that enhance rhythmic complexity.[44] This balance ensures harmonious interplay across genres, allowing seamless transitions between emotive choruses and percussive verses. Complementing these sonic elements, SF9's music videos frequently employ fantasy-themed visuals—such as cosmic and psychedelic motifs—integrated with tightly synchronized dances that amplify the otherworldly choreography.[45][46]Influences and themes
SF9's artistry draws significant inspiration from both label predecessors and international icons. As the first dance-focused boy group under FNC Entertainment, which had previously emphasized rock bands like CNBLUE and FTISLAND, SF9 incorporated elements of high-energy performance and stage presence from these seniors into their dynamic choreography and live shows. Additionally, global pop influences are evident in their dance routines, particularly from Michael Jackson, with member Yoo Taeyang often drawing comparisons for his fluid, expressive style; he has performed covers of Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and contributed to music videos like "Now or Never" that feature overt tributes to the icon's choreography.[47][48][49] Lyrically, SF9 explores recurring motifs of fantasy, youth, love, and self-discovery, often blending whimsical narratives with emotional introspection. Their debut track "Fanfare" captures the vibrant energy of youth and new beginnings, serving as an exuberant introduction to the group's sensational world through its upbeat hip-hop rhythm and celebratory lyrics. Themes of love appear frequently, as in romantic ballads that evoke longing and connection, while self-discovery is central to releases like the 2019 EP Narcissus, which promotes self-love and acceptance. Fantasy elements permeate their discography, notably in the 2024 mini-album Fantasy, where songs like "My Fantasia" weave imaginative escapism with heartfelt expressions, and the 2025 EP Love Race, which emphasizes perseverance, solidarity, and the pursuit of love through diverse, energetic concepts.[50][51][52] Conceptual storytelling further defines their work, with albums like Narcissus rooted in Greek mythology—the titular figure's tale of self-obsession reimagined as a journey toward personal growth and inner confidence. This narrative approach allows SF9 to layer mythological archetypes with modern reflections on identity and resilience, emphasizing evolution from youthful exuberance to mature introspection. Member contributions enhance these themes, particularly rapper Zuho, who has co-written and composed numerous tracks, infusing personal insights into lyrics; examples include his work on "BIBORA" (exploring emotional pain) and self-composed "Photograph" from Sensuous.[53][54][55]Discography
Studio albums
SF9's discography includes four studio albums, comprising one Korean full-length release and three Japanese full-length releases. These albums showcase the group's evolution from their debut era to more mature concepts, incorporating a mix of dance-pop, R&B, and ballad elements. The Korean album marked a significant milestone in their domestic career, while the Japanese albums helped establish their presence in the international market, particularly in Japan. First Collection (2020) is SF9's first Korean studio album, released on January 7, 2020, by FNC Entertainment. Consisting of 10 tracks, it features the lead single "Good Guy," a slick R&B track highlighting the group's charismatic performances and vocal harmonies. The album debuted at number 1 on both the Hanteo and Gaon weekly album charts, achieving SF9's highest first-week sales at the time with 68,707 copies on Hanteo. It ultimately sold over 117,785 copies in South Korea, reflecting the group's growing popularity during this period.[56] Sensational Feeling Nine (2017) is the group's debut Japanese studio album, released on December 13, 2017, by Warner Music Japan. This 10-track album includes Japanese versions of earlier hits like "Fanfare" and the title track "Boku no Taiyou| Album | Release Date | Language | Label | Peak Chart Position | First-Week Sales |

Filmography
Television dramas
Several members of SF9 have established themselves as actors in Korean television dramas, leveraging their idol backgrounds to portray diverse characters in genres ranging from romance to fantasy, thereby enhancing the group's cross-media presence.[25] Rowoon, in particular, achieved breakout success with his first lead role as Haru in the 2019 MBC romantic fantasy drama Extraordinary You, where he played a webtoon character who awakens to his fictional existence and falls in love with the female protagonist.[71] The series, adapted from a popular webtoon, highlighted Rowoon's acting range and contributed to SF9's growing popularity among drama audiences. In 2023, he starred as the quick-witted matchmaker Shim Jeong-woo in the KBS2 historical comedy The Matchmakers, a role that earned him the Top Excellence Award at the 2023 KBS Drama Awards for his charismatic portrayal of a Joseon-era scholar.[72] As a former member since September 2023, Rowoon continued acting with lead roles in Destined with You (2023, JTBC) as Jang Shin-yu and upcoming projects including The Murky Stream (2025, Disney+) as Jang Si-yul.[73] Chani made his acting debut in the 2018 JTBC romantic comedy My ID is Gangnam Beauty, portraying Do Kyung-seok, a handsome but aloof medical student who becomes entangled in the protagonist's journey to overcome insecurities about her appearance following plastic surgery.[74] His performance in the series, based on a webtoon, marked an early highlight in his acting career and drew attention to SF9's talent beyond music. Chani later took on the supporting role of Jo Jin in the 2021 TVING fantasy drama The Witch's Diner, where he depicted an enigmatic young man connected to the supernatural elements of a restaurant that grants wishes through meals.[74] He continued with roles in The Witch Store Reopening (2022, ENA) and Joseon Attorney (2023, JTBC) as the young Kim Do-hyun.[74] Jaeyoon appeared in a supporting capacity in the 2020 JTBC romantic comedy Was It Love?, contributing to the ensemble cast in this story of single motherhood and rediscovered romance among longtime friends.[75] He followed with supporting roles as Na Ji-na's ex-boyfriend in Doom at Your Service (2021, tvN), in the web drama Part-time Mello (2021), and as Go Jung-seok in Curtain Call (2022, ENA).[76] Hwiyoung debuted in acting with the role of Ji Gang in the 2020 web drama Mermaid Prince and appeared in Imitation (2021, KBS2) as member Lee Jun-ho, as well as the Viu original Miracle (2022) as Park Kang-woo.[77] Zuho, who signed with Haewadal Entertainment for acting in January 2024, debuted in Under the Gun (2024, web drama) and is set to star as Son Jin-u in the upcoming Sonny's Competition (2025).[78] As a group, SF9 featured prominently in the 2016 interactive web-drama Click Your Heart, an Naver TV production where all members portrayed high school students navigating romance and friendships through viewer-voted storylines, blending their real-life dynamics with scripted narratives to promote their debut. Additionally, the group contributed the original soundtrack "Love Me Again" to the 2018 tvN time-slip drama Familiar Wife, a poignant ballad that underscored themes of regret and second chances in the series.[79]Variety and reality programs
Prior to their debut, the members of SF9 gained initial public exposure through FNC Entertainment's NEOZ School program in 2015, a trainee initiative that featured training sessions, dance covers, and daily life videos on the agency's YouTube channel to introduce prospective artists.[80] In 2016, the original nine members participated in Mnet's survival reality show d.o.b (Dance or Band) as the NEOZ Dance team, competing against the NEOZ Band team in performance challenges; their victory in the eight-episode series confirmed their path to debut later that year.[1] Following their official debut, SF9 launched SF9's Diary as an ongoing vlog series on their official YouTube channel, providing fans with personal updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and member interactions to foster closer connections.[81] The group further elevated their profile in 2021 by competing on Mnet's Kingdom: Legendary War, a high-stakes survival program where they performed reimagined tracks alongside five other boy groups, culminating in innovative stages that highlighted their dance and vocal synergy across 10 episodes.[82] Individually, member Dawon appeared on MBC's long-running variety show 2 Days & 1 Night from 2020 until his military enlistment in 2023, contributing comedic sketches and outdoor challenges that showcased his energetic personality.[83] Similarly, Inseong has taken on hosting roles, including co-MC duties on KBS World's music variety program We K-Pop starting in 2019, where he introduces performances and engages with international audiences. As of 2025, Taeyang has expanded into musical theater, starring as Roger in the Korean production of Rent (premiering October 2025).[84] These variety and reality endeavors have played a key role in deepening fan engagement by revealing the members' off-stage dynamics and humor, while expanding SF9's visibility beyond music charts through cross-promotions and relatable content.[85]Concerts and tours
Major tours
SF9's first major international concert tour was the 2019 USA and Europe Live Tour titled "UNLIMITED," which spanned 10 cities across North America and Europe from April to May, marking the group's debut large-scale global outing with high-energy performances of hits like "Fanfare" and "Good Guy."[86][87] The tour's theme emphasized boundless fantasy and connection with fans, adapting choreography and setlists to showcase the then-9-member lineup's synchronized dance routines and vocal harmonies, receiving positive reception for its dynamic stage presence and sold-out shows in venues like the Wiltern in Los Angeles.[86] Earlier, the group had conducted the 2018 "Mamma Mia!" Zepp Tour and the 2019 "Illuminate" Zepp Tour in Japan, which featured multi-city arena performances and helped build their international fanbase in Asia.[88] The group's most recent major tour, "LOVE DAWN 2025 SF9 LIVE FANTASY #5," launched in Europe in October 2025 before transitioning to an extensive 18-date run across the United States starting October 30 in Boston's Strand Theatre, including stops in New York, Los Angeles, and other cities through December 7.[10][89] The tour's theme revolves around love, renewal, and a new dawn, tying into SF9's recent releases from 2024–2025 such as emotional tracks from their latest album.[9] Setlists typically open with upbeat numbers like "LOVE RACE" and "RPM," progressing to mid-tempo songs such as "Now or Never," "Tear Drop," and "TRAUMA," closing with fan favorites "O Sole Mio" and "My Fantasia" to evoke intimacy and celebration.[90] With SF9 operating as an 8-member group following Rowoon's departure in 2023, the 2025 tour features adaptations for a 5-member performing lineup of Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Hwiyoung, and Chani, due to Dawon's military enlistment and other commitments for Taeyang and Zuho, including redistributed vocal parts and modified formations to maintain the group's signature fantasy aesthetic while ensuring balanced energy.[9][91] Reception has been enthusiastic, with critics and fans praising the resilience and high production value, as seen in the London indigo at The O2 show on October 15 where performances were described as a "triumphant return" filled with emotional depth and crowd engagement.[92] Attendance has been strong, contributing to sold-out arenas and highlighting the group's enduring international appeal despite lineup changes.[93]Notable concerts and fan meetings
SF9 marked their return to live performances after a prolonged hiatus due to members' military enlistments with the "2025 SF9 LIVE FANTASY #5 LOVE DAWN" concert, held on June 21 and 22 at KBS Arena in Seoul. This event served as their first Seoul solo concert in over two and a half years, showcasing tracks from their recent EP LOVE RACE alongside fan favorites, and drew significant attention for reuniting the group on stage following individual activities.[94][95] On September 27, 2025, SF9 performed at the Yeongdong-daero K-POP Concert, delivering their hit "LOVE RACE" as part of a high-energy set that highlighted their dynamic choreography and vocal harmonies. Broadcast live by KBS World TV, the performance celebrated the group's evolving sound and connected with fans amid their ongoing world tour promotions.[96] The group has maintained a tradition of annual fan meetings through the "SF9 Fancon" series, beginning with the 2017 "BE MY FANTASY" Asia Fan Meeting Tour, which spanned multiple cities including Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, and Taipei, fostering early international engagement. Subsequent editions, such as the 2018 Fan-Con and the 2023 "ONE DAY PROJECT OF9 -unlock FANDORA-" in Seoul, continued this format with interactive segments and special stages until a pause due to scheduling constraints. The series resumed in 2024 with "My 8antasia" on October 4 and 5 at KBS Arena, commemorating their eighth anniversary with emotional reunions, including a reunion with member Jaeyoon following his military discharge, and performances blending nostalgia with new material.[97][98][99] During the COVID-19 pandemic, SF9 adapted to restrictions with virtual and hybrid fan events, including the January 2021 "SF9 Workshop" online fan meeting, which featured live interactions, games, and exclusive content accessible globally via streaming platforms. Later that year, the August 2021 "Reply FANTASY" online fan meeting continued this approach, incorporating themed segments reminiscent of classic reply series to maintain fan connection despite in-person limitations.[100][101]Awards and nominations
