Supachai Chaided
Supachai Chaided is a Thai professional footballer who plays as a centre-forward for Thai League 1 club Buriram United and the Thailand national team.[1][2] Born on 1 December 1998 in Pattani, Thailand, he stands at 1.85 metres tall and is right-footed.[1] Chaided joined Buriram United's senior team in February 2017 after progressing through youth clubs Santiparp FC Pattani and Patumkongka School, signing a contract that runs until June 2026.[1] He has emerged as a prolific scorer for the club, winning the Thai League 1 Golden Boot in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons with standout performances, including 21 goals in the latter campaign.[3] In August 2025, he achieved a career milestone by scoring his 100th Thai League 1 goal during a match against Uthai Thani.[4] His contributions have helped Buriram United secure multiple domestic titles, including league championships during his tenure.[1] As of November 2025, Chaided has earned 44 caps for the Thailand national team, scoring 8 goals.[5] He was part of the squad for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, where he scored Thailand's goal in a 2-1 round-of-16 loss to China.[6] In the 2023 AFC Asian Cup (held in 2024), he featured in three group-stage matches and netted a brace in a 2-0 opening win over Kyrgyzstan.[7] Chaided has also competed in AFC Champions League Elite qualifiers and other continental competitions with Buriram United, showcasing his versatility as a forward.[2]Early life and youth career
Early life
Supachai Chaided was born on 1 December 1998 in Pattani Province, Thailand, to a Muslim family of Thai-Malay descent.[8] He spent his early years in the Deep South region encompassing Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces, a predominantly Malay Muslim area bordering Malaysia that has been affected by long-standing ethnic and separatist conflicts since the 2000s. Supachai has expressed that participating in football events in the south helps inspire youth in his hometown region to pursue the sport.[9]Youth career
Supachai Chaided began his organized youth football career in his hometown of Pattani, joining Santiparp FC from 2012 to 2014, where he gained initial exposure to competitive play in southern Thailand's youth setups.[1] In 2014, at age 15, he enrolled at Patumkongka School in Pathum Thani, an academy affiliated with Port Football Club, and trained there until early 2016.[1][10]Club career
Super Power Samut Prakan
In 2016, at the age of 17, Supachai Chaided joined Super Power Samut Prakan FC, marking his entry into senior professional football in the Thai League 1.[11][12] This move provided him with his first opportunity to compete at the top tier of Thai football, where Super Power Samut Prakan were struggling near the bottom of the table. Supachai made his professional debut on 6 March 2016, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute during a 1–4 away defeat to Bangkok Glass FC (now BG Pathum United).[13] Three days later, on 9 March 2016, he scored his sole goal for the club in a 2–3 away defeat to BEC Tero FC (now Police Tero FC), entering as a substitute in the 64th minute and finding the net shortly after.[13] Over the course of the 2016 season, he featured in 20 matches, primarily as a forward or attacking midfielder, often starting after initial substitute appearances and contributing to the team's efforts in a season where Super Power finished 15th, narrowly avoiding relegation.[13] Key outings included full 90-minute performances against teams like Navy FC, Sukhothai FC, and Nakhon Ratchasima FC, as well as draws against Buriram United on 11 May and 13 August.[13] As a developing forward, Supachai's role involved adapting to the physical and tactical demands of senior competition, where he accumulated limited playing time in some fixtures—such as brief substitute cameos against Chonburi FC and Sisaket FC—while helping bolster Super Power's attack during their relegation fight.[13] His contributions, though modest with just one goal, provided valuable experience ahead of his transfer to Buriram United in January 2017.Buriram United
Supachai Chaided transferred permanently to Buriram United from Super Power Samut Prakan in early 2017, making his debut for the club in the Thai FA Cup on 2 August 2017 during a 5–1 victory over Phitsanulok FC. Initially, he served as a squad player, appearing in limited matches across competitions while gradually earning more opportunities under manager Božidar Bandović.[14] Chaided's role evolved significantly in subsequent seasons, culminating in breakthrough performances during the 2022/23 Thai League 1 campaign, where he scored 19 goals to claim the top scorer award and helped Buriram secure the league title. He repeated this feat in the 2023/24 season, netting 21 league goals for another Golden Boot while contributing to the club's domestic successes. These seasons marked his emergence as Buriram's primary striker, blending clinical finishing with improved hold-up play to anchor the attack. By 24 August 2025, Chaided had amassed over 200 appearances and 100 goals for Buriram United across all competitions, including his milestone 100th club goal in a Thai League 1 match against Uthai Thani FC. In the 2024/25 season, he featured in 33 league matches, scoring 15 goals and providing key assists during Buriram's quadruple-winning campaign, which included triumphs in the Thai League 1, Thai FA Cup, Thai League Cup, and Shopee Cup (ASEAN Club Championship). His contributions extended to decisive moments, such as assists in cup finals and hat-tricks in FA Cup ties, underscoring his impact in high-stakes games.[15][16][17][18] Entering the 2025/26 season, Chaided maintained his status as the team's focal point up front, recording 3 goals and 1 assist in 9 early matches despite a slow start with two draws. He has accumulated 4 yellow cards this term, reflecting his aggressive pressing style. On November 13, 2025, he sustained a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) knee injury during a World Cup qualifier for Thailand against Sri Lanka, facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.[19] In November 2025, ahead of the Shopee Cup defense, Chaided expressed confidence in Buriram's unity and preparation, stating the team was poised for another strong run in the ASEAN Club Championship despite the challenging rematch against Cong An Ha Noi FC.[20][17]International career
Youth international career
Supachai Chaided began his youth international career with the Thailand U19 team in 2016, where he emerged as a prolific striker during the AFF U-19 Youth Championship in Vietnam. Competing in Group B and the knockout stages, he scored 5 goals across the tournament, contributing significantly to Thailand's successful campaign as they defeated Vietnam 3-0 in the final to claim the title.[21] In 2018, Chaided received call-ups to the Thailand U21 team, wearing the number 21 during setups that year, marking his progression through the age-group ranks as a forward.[22] His development continued with the U22 squad for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines, where he featured prominently and netted Thailand's opening goal just four minutes into the quarterfinal clash against Vietnam in a match that ended 2-2 after extra time, with Thailand losing 4-2 on penalties and exiting in the quarterfinals.[23] Chaided's most notable youth international stint came at the U23 level from 2018 to 2020, focusing on preparations for major tournaments including the Olympic qualification path. He played a key role in the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers, where he received a red card in the match against Vietnam on 26 March 2019, resulting in a two-game suspension from the Asian Football Confederation. He made 4 appearances at the finals in Thailand, showcasing his finishing ability.[24][25] Throughout these levels, his consistent goal-scoring and physical presence as a centre-forward solidified his reputation, with his strong performances at Buriram United facilitating repeated national youth selections.Senior international career
Supachai Chaided earned his first senior call-up to the Thailand national team in 2018, following standout performances in youth international competitions, and made his debut on 11 October 2018 in a 1-0 friendly victory over Hong Kong, entering as a substitute.[2] His early appearances were primarily as a substitute, reflecting his emergence as a promising forward amid competition from established strikers.[26] Chaided featured prominently in Thailand's 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup campaign, where he played seven matches and scored three goals, including strikes against Timor-Leste and the Philippines that contributed to the team's progression to the final.[27] Although Thailand finished as runners-up after losing to Vietnam, Chaided's contributions marked him as a key emerging talent in Southeast Asian competitions.[28] He transitioned to a more regular role in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, appearing in all five matches, including the round of 16 clash against China, where he scored his first major tournament goal in a 2-1 defeat that ended Thailand's campaign.[29] By the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, Chaided had evolved into a starting forward, participating in three group stage matches and the round of 16, scoring twice in the 2-0 opening win over Kyrgyzstan, helping Thailand advance before a penalty shootout exit to Uzbekistan in the round of 16.[7] His goals in that tournament underscored his growing importance to the attack, with an assist also recorded against Uzbekistan.[26] Strong form at Buriram United during this period solidified his national team status, leading to consistent selections in subsequent years.[1] As of 19 November 2025, Chaided had accumulated 45 caps and 8 goals for Thailand, with recent appearances including starts in 2025 friendlies and World Cup qualifiers such as the 10 June match against Turkmenistan, where he scored, and the 7 September encounter with Iraq. These outings highlighted his role in preparations for upcoming ASEAN competitions, maintaining his position as a pivotal starter in the squad, though he sustained a cruciate ligament injury in the 13th minute of the 13 November 2025 friendly against Singapore, ruling him out of the subsequent match against Sri Lanka.[2][26]Career statistics
