The Virginity Hit
The Virginity Hit is a 2010 American found-footage mockumentary comedy film directed by Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland.[1] The plot centers on four male teenagers in New Orleans who use a video camera and online platforms to document their pact to lose their virginities, culminating in celebratory marijuana use from a bong shaped like a woman.[2] Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez Productions, the film features a cast of largely unknown actors including Matt Bennett as Matt, Zack Pearlman as Zack, Jacob Davich as Jacob, and Justin Kline as Justin.[3] Released theatrically on September 24, 2010, in limited release, it earned $636,706 at the box office against a $2 million production budget, marking a commercial failure.[4] Critically, the film holds a 26% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 46 reviews, with detractors citing its crude humor and lack of originality in the mockumentary genre.[2] Despite the involvement of high-profile producers, The Virginity Hit generated minimal cultural impact and is noted primarily for its explicit, unpolished depiction of adolescent sexual pursuits.[5]
