Jankel
Jankel Armouring Limited was a British manufacturer of armoured vehicles and protection systems, founded in 1955 by designer Robert Jankel as a coachbuilding enterprise that evolved into a specialist in vehicle armouring for military and security uses.[1][2]
The company developed and produced light tactical vehicles, counter-terrorism platforms, and custom survivability solutions, including the Fox Rapid Response Vehicle based on Toyota platforms, with over 500 units supplied globally to defence and security customers.[3][4]
Notable products included the Guardian armoured truck, deployed by the UK Metropolitan Police on Ford F-450 chassis for high-risk operations, protected SUVs delivered to the US Marshals Service and Customs and Border Protection, and 199 light tactical transport vehicles provided to the Belgian Army on Mercedes Unimog bases.[5][6][7]
Jankel maintained production facilities in the UK, Jordan, and the US, holding ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications for its engineering and manufacturing processes, before entering administration in early 2024 due to financial challenges, with its assets subsequently acquired by NP Aerospace.[1][2]
