MSC Meraviglia
MSC Meraviglia is a Meraviglia-class cruise ship owned and operated by MSC Cruises, the passenger division of Mediterranean Shipping Company.[1] Built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at its shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and entering service in June 2017, the vessel has a gross tonnage of 171,598, a length of 316 meters, and 19 decks accommodating up to 5,714 passengers at double occupancy plus 1,608 crew members.[2][3][1] Sailing under the Maltese civil ensign, she sails itineraries in regions including the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Northern Europe, featuring a central promenade lined with shops and dining venues under a programmable LED sky canopy that distinguishes her design among contemporary cruise ships.[4][5] As the lead ship of her class, Meraviglia represented a significant expansion for MSC Cruises, incorporating advanced digital integration and environmental technologies such as exhaust gas cleaning systems upon delivery.[2] While praised for capacity and onboard innovations, the ship has drawn passenger feedback on service inconsistencies typical of rapid fleet growth in the sector, though no major structural incidents have defined her operational history.[5]
