Naval Support Activity Naples
Naval Support Activity Naples (NSA Naples) is a United States Navy installation in Naples, Italy, that operates as a primary logistical and operational hub for U.S. naval forces, allied partners, and NATO activities in the Mediterranean, Europe, and Africa.[1]
Established on 3 October 1951 as Headquarters, Support Activities, it initially provided administrative and supply support to NATO's Allied Forces Southern Europe and the U.S. Sixth Fleet during the early Cold War period.[2][3]
The base has since evolved into a critical enabler for maritime security operations, hosting headquarters for Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) and supporting over 50 tenant commands with approximately 8,500 military, civilian, and contractor personnel.[4][5]
NSA Naples facilitates air, sea, and shore-based logistics, including aircraft operations adjacent to Naples International Airport, while its mission emphasizes sustaining fleet readiness, enabling combat capabilities, and providing family support services to maintain operational tempo.[6][7]
