Greg Pence
Gregory Joseph Pence (born November 14, 1956) is an American businessman, former U.S. Marine Corps officer, and Republican politician who served as the U.S. representative for Indiana's 6th congressional district from 2019 to 2025.[1] Born in Columbus, Indiana, Pence is the older brother of former Vice President Mike Pence.[1] After graduating from Columbus North High School in 1975 and earning a B.A. in history and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago, he commissioned into the Marine Corps, serving from 1979 to 1983 and deploying with his battalion to Beirut, Lebanon, shortly before the 1983 barracks bombing.[1][2] Prior to Congress, Pence worked in the oil industry, as a retail consultant, and as owner of small businesses including Kiel Brothers Oil Company—which filed for bankruptcy in 2004—and antique malls such as Exit 76.[1][3][4] Elected in 2018 to succeed Luke Messer, Pence focused on energy policy, manufacturing, and defense issues during his three terms but announced in January 2024 that he would not seek reelection, citing congressional dysfunction among other factors.[5][6]
