Several alumni of the University of Findlay have distinguished themselves in politics and public service, particularly at the federal and state levels in and beyond. R. Clint Cole (Raymond Clinton Cole), who attended Findlay College, served as a Republican U.S. Representative for from 1919 to 1923. After earning his law degree from in 1900, he practiced law in Findlay until his death in 1957. Cole was known as a civic leader in his community, contributing to local governance and legal affairs. His brother, Ralph D. Cole, a Findlay College alumnus who graduated in 1896, preceded him in representing Ohio's 4th district as a U.S. Representative from 1905 to 1911. After obtaining his law degree from in 1900 and serving as Hancock County Prosecuting Attorney from 1902 to 1904, Cole focused his legislative efforts on issues relevant to Ohio's rural economy, including agricultural interests during his tenure. He later served as a major and in the 37th during and resumed his legal practice in Findlay until his death in 1932. Tennyson Guyer, who graduated from Findlay College with a B.S. in 1934, represented Ohio's 4th district as a U.S. Representative from 1973 until his death in 1981. An ordained minister in the Churches of God, Guyer held prior roles as mayor of , from 1940 to 1944, Ohio state senator from 1959 to 1972, and public affairs director for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. from 1950 to 1972. In Congress, he advocated for education, , and foreign policy, serving on the Education and Labor, , and Committees. John W. Grabiel, an alumnus of Findlay College, pursued a legal and political career in after moving there in 1905. He served as the nominee for of in both 1922 and 1924, challenging the dominant in an era of one-party rule in the South. Delbert L. Latta, who graduated from Findlay College in 1935, served as a U.S. Representative for from 1959 to 1989. After earning a law degree from in 1938, he practiced law in and held positions in the from 1943 to 1948. Latta was known for his work on agriculture, taxation, and budget issues, serving as ranking member of the House Budget Committee.

Sports and coaching

Tim Beckman, a 1988 graduate of the University of Findlay with a degree in , played linebacker for the Oilers football team in 1984 and 1985, helping the squad qualify for the NAIA playoffs both seasons. He began his coaching career as a at before serving in various roles, including at Oklahoma State (2007–2008). Beckman later became at the from 2009 to 2011, where he compiled a 21–16 record, and at the University of from 2012 to 2015, finishing with a 12–25 mark. Josh Bostic, who graduated from the University of Findlay in 2009, was a standout forward on the men's team, earning three-time All-GLIAC Defensive Team honors (2006–2008) and the 2008–09 GLIAC Player of the Year award while scoring 1,537 career points. He was inducted into the University of Findlay Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024. Professionally, Bostic played overseas in leagues including (, 2009–2010), (VEF Rīga, 2016), and (CSM CSU Oradea, 2023–2024), and appeared in the with the Grand Rapids Drive (2014–2015). He retired from playing in 2024 and was promoted to assistant coach for the in September 2025. In , (class of 2015) achieved seven honors and was named the Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year four times for his performances in the shot put and discus. He was inducted into the University of Findlay Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025. Frank Phillips, a men's forward, tallied 1,521 points at an efficient 59.5% and earned first-team All-GLIAC honors twice (2005–2006, 2006–2007) before his 2025 induction into the university's Athletic Hall of Fame. Stacy Westfall, who earned a in equestrian studies from the University of Findlay in 1997, is a renowned professional and . She made history as the first woman to win the Road to the Horse colt-starting competition in 2006, bridleless, and has since authored books and produced educational videos on techniques.
