Reigate Grammar School
Reigate Grammar School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 11 to 18 in Reigate, Surrey, England.[1]Founded in 1675 through a bequest from Henry Smith, a London alderman, the school initially aimed to educate poor boys of the parish and has operated continuously on its original site for over 350 years.[2][3]
It maintains a selective admissions process emphasizing academic potential alongside character development, delivering a broad curriculum that integrates rigorous academics with extensive co-curricular activities in sports, arts, and outdoor pursuits.[1]
The school has garnered recognition for academic excellence, including designation as the Independent School of the Year 2025 by The Sunday Times and consistently high performance in public examinations, with 90% of GCSE grades at 7 or above in 2025 and strong A-level outcomes enabling progression to top universities.[1][4][5]
Beyond the UK campus, it has expanded internationally since 2016, establishing affiliated schools in locations such as Vietnam, Cambodia, and Saudi Arabia under RGS International, while preserving the core ethos of holistic education rooted in British traditions.[6][7]
