Alec Baldwin
Alexander Rae Baldwin III (born April 3, 1958) is an American actor, comedian, and producer best known for his Emmy-winning portrayal of the domineering television executive Jack Donaghy on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock (2006–2013).[1] The eldest of four acting brothers—Daniel, William, and Stephen—Baldwin rose to prominence in the late 1980s with roles in films such as Beetlejuice (1988), The Hunt for Red October (1990), and Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), showcasing his range from comedic to intense dramatic performances.[1] He holds the record for the most hosting appearances on Saturday Night Live, with 17 episodes, including acclaimed impersonations of Donald Trump during the latter's political career.[1] Baldwin's accolades include two Primetime Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for The Cooler (2003), reflecting his sustained influence across theater, film, and television.[1] In personal life, he was married to actress Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002, with whom he has one daughter, Ireland; since 2012, he has been married to Hilaria Baldwin, with whom he has seven children, forming a blended family of eight.[1] Notable controversies include a 2007 leaked voicemail in which he verbally berated his daughter Ireland, drawing public scrutiny for his temper.[1] A defining event was the October 2021 incident on the set of the low-budget Western Rust, where Baldwin, acting as both lead and producer, discharged a prop revolver during a rehearsal, firing a live round that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.[2] The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for introducing live ammunition to the set, but Baldwin maintained he did not pull the trigger and was unaware of the live round.[2] Charged with involuntary manslaughter, his trial was dismissed with prejudice in July 2024 after evidence emerged of prosecutorial withholding of information regarding the ammunition's source; New Mexico prosecutors dropped their appeal in December 2024, effectively ending the criminal case against him.[3][4] As of 2025, Baldwin has filed a malicious prosecution lawsuit against involved officials, which was transferred to federal court amid ongoing settlement discussions.[5]
